We have worked with registered charity, Freedom from Torture, on a number of projects since 2008. We were initially appointed to take over an ongoing project that required procurement focus. ‘The Garden Project’ was a series of new timber framed and clad buildings, designed to be both an extension of the existing north London HQ building and a base for the ‘Natural Growth Project’, which uses the therapeutic nature of gardening and the outdoors to help treat its clients.
As project manager and contract administrator, we were charged with delivering the project from the concept design stage through to on-site completion in summer 2009. This meant working closely with both the client and the concept architect to achieve the client’s aims. The completed project offers attractive, flexible spaces with high levels of natural daylight, which are now used for teaching, assembly and therapeutic space.
Since this initial collaboration we have also been appointed to manage various feasibility studies, renovations and improvements to the charity’s main building.
