Giulio, Cambridge

Establised Cambridge fashion retailer, Giulio, was undertaking a major new retail fitout project, in order to open a franchise Hugo Boss store in central Cambridge, and appointed Burogloo on recommendation from HBUK. We were appointed post-tender to deliver and focus a project already running in delay. The unit was within a larger retail development being completed by a separate team and, due to the project’s initial delay, involved not only working alongside the development contractor, but also working within an open shopping mall as the project neared completion. We were able to use both our extensive retail project management experience and architectural experience to help bring the project back on track and complete the fit out in a 9 week contract period, in line with HBUK and Giulio’s exacting standards. Working to very tight programme deadlines, the project also entailed liaison between an unusually high number of interested parties, as contractor handed over to landlord and the mall opened to the public. Burogloo has since worked on a strategic level with Giulio, helping to assess the potential of other new projects.

Burogloo has good, established relationships with major retail clients who we continue to work with them regularly, carrying out a range of successful retail fit-out projects. Our retail clients often return to us, for our ability to manage and deliver complex and often frenetic projects, regardless of challenges.

Burogloo is often appointed as both lead designer (working alongside branding and concept design teams) and project manager, or as project manager and lead consultant, taking overall responsibility for project delivery. We are proud to boast several retail units opening on programme and on budget, with our experience including such logistical challenges as carrying out fast-tracked refurbishment to trading retail spaces, quick turn-around fit-outs over two or three weeks, refitting existing stores or, as was the case with the Jimmy Choo flagship store in London, a complete reworking of existing building, including structural redevelopment, to form new retail units.

Burogloo has proved a successful project leader in large design, contractor and production teams and has demonstrated the flexibility to adapt to client and project requirements. By understanding the retail sector’s fluid development and fast-tracked approach, Burogloo can offer clients the comfort of knowing a project will be delivered on target as well as to the desired quality.
